Running Fluency in a Windows Lab

Fluency requires extra Eclipse plugins to run, specifically the GEF plugins. Plugins are installed in the directory that Eclipse is installed and since we do not have access to that part of the file system in a lab, we need to use an extension point. A extension point archive has been created for a Windows Eclipse 3.2 installation and archived here.

To set up the extension point, download the archive and extract it to your home directory (your Windows home directory). Next, open Eclipse 3.2 (should be installed in Programs->Departmentally Sponsored->CSCI). In Eclipse, go to Help->Software Updates->Manage Configuration. Click the Add an Extension Location link and then select the extracted archive directory from above. Allow Eclipse to restart or restart it manually if not prompted. Now you should be ready to get started.
